The beginning of a sport to set or give America a new history among other nations worldwide, baseball began informally using local rules during the 1800s. By the 1860s, it all began, this sport even by it's name became extremely popular in America, this sport was known as "America's pastime."

Where it all began, Baseball:

  • This sport was popularized by Alexandar Cartwright because this sport derived from an informal and local game in certain cities or neighborhoods. Alexandar Cartwright (1820-1892), who was from New York, he aslo popularized this sport by creating the modern baseball field in 1845. Both him and the members of his New York Knickerbockers Baseball Club created some of the rules and regulations that were soon to be apart of modern-day baseball.

  • Baseball, as you know is an American sport, therefore this sport was derived from an English game played by Rounders.Rounders became popular in the nineteenth century in the United States, then the game was commonly known as townball, base, or baseball. So, yes, people were creating very similar versions of baseball games, however in the end, the New York Knickerbockers were the people who received the most popularity based on their style of the game.

  • The first recorded baseball game was in 1846 when the New York Knickerbockers lost against the New York Baseball Club. So, I guess it's safe to say that baseball became popularized in New York, this is truly where the familiarity of baseball derived into or from. This game occurred in Elysian Fields, in Hoboken, New Jersey.
