Physics of a Circle Change up

A Circle Change up is a pitch in which the pace that the ball is originally moving in, changes. This type of pitch a fast ball but is actually slowing down in the process. it is in fact a trick to fool the batters eye. When the ball moves it slightly moves downward to whatever direction you threw it in. The circle change up is 15 mph slower than a fastball. In the major league plays the average speed for a circle change up is 82 mph. The ball typically slows down 8-10 mph by the time its in the front plate. It takes a roughly 0.45 mph for the hitter to hit this type of pitch. The angle of the forearm and wrist is also a key element in throwing a circle change up as it depends on the angle in which it is thrown to make the ball spin and rotate from bottom to top.
